Rescheduled

The Streetsboro City School District Board of Education has cancelled the June 27, 2013 Fiscal Year End Financial Meeting.  The meeting has been rescheduled on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 6:45 p.m., in the Henry Defer Intermediate School Cafeteria, 1895 Annalane Dr., Streetsboro, OH  44241.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss fiscal year end appropriations/finances, fiscal year 2014 appropriations, to consider the hiring of personnel, to discuss the OFCC building project, and to hold an executive session to discuss the appointment/ employment of an employee/school official. 

Meeting Notice 6/1/2013

The Streetsboro City School District Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., in the Streetsboro City Hall Council Chambers, 9184 State Route 43, Streetsboro, Ohio, 44241.  The purpose of the meeting is to meet in executive session to consider the purchase of property for public purposes, to prepare for and review negotiations or bargaining sessions with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms and conditions of their employment.   The Board of Education will also meet in open session to discuss land, facilities, and the OFCC project.

School board member lobbies Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Denise Baba, President of the Streetsboro Board of Education attended the 40th annual National School Boards Association Federal Relations Network Conference in Washington, D.C., Jan. 27-29. The Federal Relations Network (FRN) is composed of local school board members appointed by the Ohio School Boards Association to lobby their members of Congress on federal education issues.

Baba Appointed to OSBA Board of Trustees

Columbus, OH — Denise Baba, President of the Streetsboro Board of Education has been appointed to the Ohio School Boards Association Board of Trustees. She took the oath of office in Columbus on January 19, just prior to the Board’s first meeting of the year.

Public Notice

As required by O.R.C. §3307.353, the Streetsboro City School District Board of Education hereby gives public notice that Deniese Newman, is retiring as an employee of the Board, and is seeking reemployment with the Board in the same or similar position as a reemployed retiree.  The Board will hold a public meeting on the issue of Deniese Newman being reemployed as a retiree on June 13, 2013, at 6:45 p.m. at Henry Defer Intermediate School Cafeteria, 1895 Annabelle Drive, Streetsboro, Ohio, 44241. 

Community Survey Review at Board Meeting Thursday

The board of education would like to invite anyone who wishes to hear the results of our community input survey regarding the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission to attend our regularly scheduled board meeting this Thursday at 6:45 at the Defer Intermediate School Cafeteria.  At the meeting there will be a review of the survey results as well as an open microphone for public comments regarding the building project.  Please plan to attend this informative session.

Two Hour Delay Schedule for Friday, May 10th

We would like to remind families that this Friday, May 10th is the second of two delay days scheduled for the 2012-2013 school year.  This two hour delay will be used for teacher and staff training at all buildings.  Students are to report to school 2 hours after their normal start time.  All transportation services will still be provided but on a two hour delay. For those students attending school outside the district, transportation will be provided at the normal time. Any families needing child care for the two hour delay, Surround Care will be available at Campus Elementary School beginning at 6:30 for a fee of 15.00 for one child and 25.00 for two .  This fee must be paid in advanced.  If you are interested in Surround Care, please contact Lucene Leach at Campus Elementary school.  IF you have any questions regarding this two hour delay, please contact your child’s building principal.

Staff Recognition Event 2013

We have just received unofficial notification that the Streetsboro City Schools have been chosen to participate in the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission Program.  Participation in this program will enable us to renovate or rebuild our district buildings.  You are invited to attend our regularly scheduled board meeting this Thursday, April 11th at 6:45 in the Defer Intermediate School cafeteria to learn more details about this exciting opportunity. Feedback Needed on School Travel Plan

You’re invited to a public meeting to learn about the new Safe Routes to School program at Streetsboro City Schools, in partnership with the City of Streetsboro, and to review the draft School Travel Plan created by a local team of community and school representatives.

Streetsboro Chamber of Commerce Congratulates Seniors

Congratulations to all Seniors who were honored at the Streetsboro Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Each year, Seniors with a GPA of 3.5 and above are invited to attend and are recognized by the Chamber for their academic accomplishments. Additionally, the Chamber awarded their annual scholarships to three Seniors--Haley Rohaley, Jessica Reker and Ashley Miller. A special thank you to all of the Chamber members/businesses for sponsoring students for this luncheon! 

New news about the Middle School Stem club

Check out the updates on the STEM Club website. The students are preparing to compete in the Soap Box Derby Gravity Race Challenge as we bring the classroom to the track on May 18th. They are team building and problem solving throughout this STEM challenge. 

We are also leaving for the National Robotics Challenge this Thursday morning. I will be posting pictures and tweeting throughout the competition on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Kindergarten Registration Kindergarten registration for the Streetsboro City Schools begins with an informational parent meeting on Tuesday, February 19th, at 6:30 pm in the Wait Primary School gym
Community Computer Lab

The computer lab at Streetsboro High School is available to students and community members. The lab is located at the High School in room 101 December 17, 2012 through May 24, 2013. A certified teacher will be available to provide assistance.
