STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE

Thank you for stopping by SHS' website.  We are now well into 2nd semester, and our thoughts are turning to the spring sports awards, senior awards night, and graduation!  It is hard to believe that the school year has progressed this quickly, but it is heartening to see our teachers hard at work every day trying to make a positive impact in the lives of our students.  Equally encouraging is daily seeing our students studying hard and taking school seriously to make sure that they are college and career ready!

Our school's slogan for the year is "Striving For Excellence," and I've already seen our students and staff taking that to heart.  Our teachers are working harder than ever and our students seem to be increasingly serious about mastering their studies.  So as we begin down the path that is the 2011-2012 school year, please keep in mind the following information:

  • Streetsboro High School is adopting a new master schedule for next year.  If you would like to learn more about this exciting change, please join us for an informational session on June 5th, at 6:00 p.m., in the high school gymnasium.
  • Mrs. Maruna's Social Studies 11 class was recently featured in the Gateway!  Here is a link to check out what 11th-graders are learning about Financial Literacy:  http://www.thegatewaynews.com/news/article/5147434
  • S.H.S. is proud to announce that we have a full-scale recycling program!  Thanks to Ms. Hudnall and her students, every room now has a recycling bin for plastic bottles and cans.  Additionally, we have a bin dedicated solely to paper recycling.  It accepts phone books, books, cardboard, newspapers, paper, etc.  It is located on the northeast corner of the school and we encourage the community to use this as well!
  • Streetsboro High School is now on Twitter!  If you too are in the Twitterverse, please follow us at:  @StreetsboroHS
  • Congratulations to our May Students of the Month:  Asia Wells, Kayla Tuma, Tyler Rowland, Abood Alkazaz, Alli Benci, Hunter Mitchell, Amy Hatfield, Elizabeth Probst, and Taylor Tuma.  Way to go Rockets!
  • Our high school newspaper, the Orbiter, is looking to raise funds for a trip to the national competition, seeing as they have placed 1st in the Ohio competition for the last 7 years!  They are collecting old electronic devices to recycle, such as cell phones, ink cartridges, mp3 players, i-pods, laptop/notebook computers, digital cameras, DVRs, handheld game consoles, GPS devices, radar detectors, E-book readers and T1 graphing calculators.  So if you have any of those around, please drop them off at the high school for recycling!
  • Credit Flexibility has arrived at Streetsboro High School.  In short, credit flexibility is a way that students can earn high school credits through non-traditional means.  If you would like more information and to see the application packet, please see the guidance page on the high school's website.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our S.H.S. homepage.  We are proud to be Rockets!!!
