John began his first term as a School Board member in January 2012. He serves as the Athletic Booster representative, Fiscal Integrity liaison, and is actively involved in Planning.
He completed the Ohio School Board Associations New Board Member (OSBA) Workshop earlier this year, and recently attended the OSBA Leadership Institute in Columbus, OH. This conference broadened John’s knowledge of School Board operations by hearing nationally acclaimed speakers, attending breakout sessions, and networking with other School Board members.
John attended John Carroll University and Rio Salado Community College. He is retired from United States Air Force where he spent 21 years proudly serving his country. He visited a number of different countries allowing him to understand different cultures such as England, Turkey, Iraq, Ireland, Egypt, and Bahrain, just to name a few. John is currently employed with McMaster-Carr where he has worked for 14 years.
Coaching youth sports has been a passion for John over the past 15 years. He has been a Director of Youth Football and Soccer, and has coached Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Football, and Soccer. He is currently coaching 3rd and 4th grade football. John has established a solid foundation and lasting relationships which allow him to understand the people of Streetsboro, and know what is needed to get the job done. John is a member of community organizations like The Fraternal Order of Eagles, The Grid-Iron Club, and the Rising Rockets.
John married his High School sweetheart Petula and they have been married for 24 years. They have three children, Kayla, Johnny, and Garret. Kayla graduated from Streetsboro and is attending The University of Mount Union and will graduate next year. Johnny is in Senior at Streetsboro High School, and Garret is in fourth grade at Henry Defer Intermediate School.
