As Spring get closer it's time to start looking at off-season workouts and what we can do to get ourselves in prime condition to have a great 2012 season. Below are the basics of what our off-season conditioning/open fields/practices will look like. Updates 1. Strength and Agility Training: We will be using the new part of the weight room to develop strength, speed, and agility. Starting March 1st we will train after school until 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a great opportunity for our athletes because it helps reduce the possibility of injury and will give us more of an edge over our opponents. 2. Spring Open Fields: After indoor soccer, the next step in our soccer year is spring open fields and conditioning. This will only be one day per week (Sundays late afternoon/early evening) hopefully starting in April, depending on weather. This is another good low pressure time to bring friends to because we just basically break up into teams and play. 3. Summer Conditioning and Practices: We are allowed 10 mandatory summer practices according to the OHSAA. In addition to these 10, there will be conditioning sessions and open fields which are not mandatory, but are highly suggested. A schedule for this will be passed out in the spring. Open fields will be on Mondays and practices will be on Thursdays with the exception of a 3 day camp that we'll run July 31st-Aug 2nd. 4. Tryouts/Start of Season: Our first official day of 2012 is Aug. 6th...plan your vacations before that please!!! The number of girls who come out to play soccer will determine whether or not we will have tryouts to separate JV from Varsity, need to make cuts, or if we will just start practicing. We were lucky to have a JV team this past season to get everyone some playing time, but with 9 seniors graduating I'm not very confident that we will have the numbers to run a JV team again in 2012. However, if we can get to at least 28 players I will certainly schedule some JV games, so invite your friends out to play. |
