Dr. Paull spoke about Tourette Syndrome to Our 6th Graders

Dr. Karen Paull, a pediatrict neuropsychologist, came to speak to our 6th grade students on Monday, October 12th.  She works with students at the Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center, but today she came to speak about Tourette Syndrome.  She donated her time to inform our students about Tourette Syndrome and make them aware of what it means to be diagnosed with it.  We appreciate her taking her time and making our students aware of a syndrome that multiple students within our disctrict deal with daily.  This talk was appropriate for the Month of October being the National Anti-Bullying Awareness Month and finding compassion for all of those around you.

Fire Prevention Week Poster Constest Winner Selected

Lt. Kevin Grimm, member of The Streetsboro Fire Department, had a very difficult decision to make.  With so many amazing posters to consider, this wasn't going to be easy.  After much consideration, a poster created by Cami Shaffer was selected as the winner to move on to a State Level Competition.  There will be six state finalists in each grade category. The winning entries will receive a special recognition by the Division of State Fire Marshal in the late winter/early spring of 2016. Best of luck Cami, we are so proud of you!

Visit from Mayor Broska

We would like to thank Mayor Glenn Broska for taking time out of his busy day to visit Defer Intermediate School.  Daily, Mr. Keruski and Mrs. Zenker welcome our students to school.  And on Friday, we had a guest greeter, the mayor.  We appreciate all of the support he gives to our school and to the district.

Flag Raising Training

Thank you members of the VFW and the American Legion.  Each day, Student Council Members raise and lower the American Flag.  Students were trained on the poroper ptotocol and will use this knowledge daily as they prepare the flag for display.  Please see photo gallery for more pictures of the students being trained.
