Principal's Message

Welcome to Henry Defer Intermediate School where we are
Improving Student Learning and Growth Daily!
 
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Defer's website and to our school as well! Defer Intermediate School is an amazing place where students are nurtured and yet held to rigorous expectations at the same time. Our children thrive in this child-centered environment, which has been developed by a very devoted staff and dedicated parents.

The focus of our staff is to meet the needs of all our students and create a safe school environment where students can become confident individuals.  We have approximately five hundred of the best fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students and a dedicated teaching staff of about thirty members supported by certified tutors, instructional assistants, kitchen and cafeteria staff, custodial staff, playground monitors, office staff, and specialists.
 
We offer several opportunities in our specials classess and extra-curricular activities to help the students be the best that they can be. Our facility is only nine years old and is a great environment in which to learn, work, and play.
 
We are very proud of our school and all that it offers students.  It is a great place to be and we hope to see you here!
